There needs to be more dancing

Dancing allows me to momentarily enter another world. A world where I'm completely alone, where I can do anything, but don't have to. A brief escape from the fast-paced reality. I don't dance on stage myself, but I regularly attend dance performances. Naturally, this includes those of Dansgroep Haarlem, for which I've been responsible for publicity for the past few years. Together with the creators, we discuss the story and how we can reach a new audience for each production. Because dance performances should be seen much more often. I believe there should be more dancing altogether. I personally perform on stage as an actor and singer, but I also took a detour to a Dansgroep Haarlem performance. "Melilla" was a very exciting experience for me. This production was part of a cultural walk through Haarlem that included plays and a dance performance. It was wonderful to see that audiences who regularly attend the theater were very impressed with our dance performance. A comment we often heard afterward was: "I never go to a dance performance, but this was so beautiful!"

I always find Dansgroep Haarlem's performances special. When I watch them, I savor everything: the beautiful compositions, the costumes, the dancers, and especially the atmosphere. Because that's what makes Dansgroep Haarlem so special; they often perform in unique locations.
