Dancer

Dancing is always challenging

I was nine years old and had just started the preparatory course for the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam. I already exclaimed then: "Dancing is simply the best thing there is." Even though I still think the same, after an orientation year and six years of preparatory training, I didn't continue with ballet. I was looking for more and for myself without ballet.

I then started studying medicine and also started teaching jazz ballet at a local dance school. Because of
my studies, I also took a break from dancing for a while. But the itch always remained.

I now work with great pleasure as a doctor and have found my way back to the world of dance in my spare time. That's why I have been dancing with Dansgroep Haarlem with great pleasure since the 2023-2024 season.
For me, dance means the ultimate feeling of freedom. Freedom of thoughts, of feelings, of worries and of the world around me. When I dance, only the movements, the music, and the dancers around me exist in a vacuum of time and space.

Dancing always remains challenging, never gets boring, and at the same time, it gives me an incredible rush. Therefore, I hope to continue enjoying the challenges, creativity, and satisfaction that dance group Haarlem has to offer for a long time to come.
